Natchez Trace will be in full swing this month with outdoor wine tasting, festivals and art shows.
The outdoors will be the place to be on Saturday at the Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center.
A BioBlitz and Wildlife Festival are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Through games, exhibits and mini-expeditions, students and families will get up-close with nature.
For the BioBlitz, small groups will take hikes with biologists to look for plants, bugs, birds, reptiles and amphibians.
“Last year, they found a large number of slimy salamanders,” said Melanie Sander, park ranger.
BioBlitz hikes will start at 11:15 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
In addition, Terry Vandeventer will show off his collection of snake species found in Mississippi, including garter, corn, coachwhip and indigo snakes.
